Ok I have a very small office space and the distance between my hdtv and where I am seated is less then half a metre.
But the camera cant pick up the leds on my headset unless I put one of them right up against the lense I am at step 5 on this guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ij7vljnl6wGIxsw3xsVRUGNwP2J5cRLQwfrsC9adJ-o/edit (its also where I got the headtracking set up) and I cannot get 3 red dots to appear from me looking right at the camera from my sitting position, I need to literally put the led from my headset against the filter for it to appear and once I start to bring the headset back it vanishes. Any advice? |

Hi,
Most webcams have a ir-filter.Some have a weak filter and some have a strong filter. You have to remove the filter to make the leds more visible.Next question is, how do you remove the filter.Well that depents on whitch cam you have. Greetz Stormrider |

ps3 eye which I was told by the seller on ebay that I wouldnt have to remove the ir-filter just place a piece of exposed film (which came with the order) over the lense

i asked that very question on the other thread, if colouring in pieces of plastic was a proper substitute. Might give it a shot tonight.

I give up.
This thing just refuses to work. the camera picks up the leds. But I need to hold them inches from the camera. I've tried floppy disk film, i've tried colouring in pieces of plastic red and blue I've tried using old fashioned 3d glasses. Heck I experimented with the new 3d glasses. The problem remains the same. To pick up the leds where I am sitting while playing the threshold gets pushed far too low where it spazzes out picking up indicators everywhere. i've tried 75fps, 60fps, 50fps. I've pushed the gain and the exposure and the colours everywhere. Simply put this camera (ps3 eye) cannot pick the leds after a very short distance (picture attached) And its not the leds. I bought this led set from Delan clip. There are numerous happy users of this set up all over youtube. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230974310505?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I can use facetrack on facetracknoir but its fidgity I was hoping for something smoother. but no force can convince this damn thing to work. The camera cannot pick up the leds from this distance. |

It was how I was attaching the filter over the lense.
Instead of trying to attach the filters directly to the camera body (like in the above picture) I instead made a little hat out of the remaining pieces of the 3d glasses and attached it so it sat above the camera. It seems pushing the filter right up against the body caused focusing issues, but giving a small bit of space between filter and lense seemed to allow the camera to focus |
