I bought a ps3eye camera for only 9.99€, but there was no separate ir-filter. Instead of it, all the lenses in the assembly we're coated to prevent ir from passing through.
First I tried to just clean the the first outer and first inner lens, but that was not enough. It passed through some ir but not even close enough to track my 3 point clip reliably.
Then I managed broke the inner first lens (the thick one) whilst trying to pry that out of it's socket.
The lens assembly is screwed together, but unfortunately theres glue on the threads.
So all in all the ps3eye was a complete bust.
I'll keep using my cheapo Creative Live! Cam Sync HD that I bought for 12€. Works reliably, but there's a slight lag and it's only 30 fps, but hey with the cleye drivers that will WORK with freetrack, the ps3eye wasn't any better
