Hi

I have just bought a new web cam vx-1000 and have found instructions on how to remove the IR filter.

My questions are:

a.) Is it essential to remove the filter

and if so

b.) If I remove the filter will I still be able to use the web cam for normal activities.

Any response would be much appreciated

it could work without removing the filter, but the tracking will be much worse compared to the modded camera.

of cause the quality of the picture for normal use worsens. for my vx3000  the picture becomes greenish, you still can use it though.

i would spend 10 euros on an extra camera for skype and stuff in case you need it and mod a camera for freetrack.

Cheers Gonzo,

I have got the tracking to work without removing the filter, but obviously it is difficult to know without trying how much it would be improved without the filter.

How green is the picture?

Thanks for the advice a second camera is probably the answer
