Hi guys and girls,

Marc here, I'm new, I have read most of the site but I can't understand french, sorry mates.  I hope I'm doing this in the english side

I need the translatation of that  doc_led.pdf or I'll ask alot of  load of questions!!  Please Help!

Well, you could save the pdf as a word document and use a translator (Word 2007 should be able to do this for you).

Hi Kestrel,      Thanks for your reply.  I did try Babel Fish to translate the doc_led pdf file but it was not good at all, I tried it again with the google translator with better results.  It wasn’t prefect of course but I did get a better understanding of whats going on.

I’m looking to make a 3-point Clip using IR 5mm led’s that I found locally for $1 aud each, (they only had 3), I know they are not the best ones to get, (only 20 degrees, but I will sand them), I’m getting the SFH 485p led’s next week.  So for the minute I thought I would try the local ir led’s as practice but now I need a little help with the resistor side, these are the details I feed the LED Assembly Wizard.


Power Supply: 6.5 volts @ 300 mA

Forward power: 1.2 volts

Continuous Forward current: 50 mA

The LED Assembly Wizard tells me the resistor theorical  value should be 58 Ohms.  And the Resistor choice is,  (E24 range) 62 Ohms 5%, and the E12 range resistor choice is 68 Ohms 10%.  The wizard suggested a serial assembly.

At the moment I have some .25w 68k 5% resistors, Blue-Grey-Orange-Gold or part number R1120, or http://tinyurl.com/2l92p3.  So for a 3-point clip setup, do you think this resistor will be ok?

Also, where does the resistor go?  Say, power supply, resistor and then led1 +anode, led1 –cathode to led2 +anode, led2 –cathode to led3 +anode, led3 –cathode to negative/ ground?  Any help will be appreciated.

Your resistor is way too big, Blue-Grey-Orange is 68k Ohms = 68 000 Ohms but you only want 68 Ohms.

That's right, all components are 'daisy-chained' together to make an electric series circuit with the resistor traditionally placed first.

So, 68 Ohms would be Blue-Grey-black and gold being the 5% value right?  Sorry for the questions mate, I'm pretty much a newbie when it come electronics but if you ask me how to make vodak and rum, I can help you.
