Can you post more pictures of that lens assembly???

It looks like you took a picture of the front side of the lens assembly, so may be the IR filter is in the other side... as you mention, the ir filter is normally located nearest to the webcam sensor but sometimes they are a film "Glued" to one of lens...

let´s see more pictures !!!

BTW is this your webcam???

Hey thanks for the reply... The picture of the lens is taken with the front on the desk, with the back side up.. The webcam you linked to, is not the one i have..

I've only taken one webcam apart but my ir filter had this reddish oily looking coating on it.  Everything else was clear.

well, based on what you say then that´s the ir filter... unfortunately removing such kind of IR filter is beyond my skills... as far i know it can be removed using a rotary tool with felt polishing attachment and some polishing compound.. i never tried myself...

look at this case: http://www.free-track.net/english/hardware/filter_removal/labtec_webcam_pro.php

maybe somebody else has experience removing this kind of coating

regards
