I Just wonder first NaturalPoint demand to remove some lines from FT code wich one as someone mention was essential for functionality , but FT still worked unfortunately the whole thing probably mess a little so later FT had some compatibility problems but its still working, in the latest version of FT its look like they demand to remove another feature from FT and I assume that it was their initiative to place this note "TrackIR is a trademark of NaturalPoint Inc." probably poor small company couldn't afford themselfs for a proper advertisement
The good think that FT still working and thanks to some improvment even better than before. But I am worried a little watching the actions taken by NP i am afraid that they demand to remove one thing after another and in the end free track my loose all its functionality or even there will be no more free track PS.Sry for mistakes

..Do not be troubled!!! .....We'we got all the versions of freetrack since 2.0
On the other hand, natural point have all the legal rights to defend their bussines, because they want to defend their money making "teritory". But I've have all the rights to choose and I choose FREETRACK!! And that's make us even..... |

I 'm a little concerned too and it seems that this latest version of freetrack isn't as stable. It's hit and miss for me lately in all titles that worked before.
...If this is because of the lines of code being removed from 2.2? then which is the best version and where can we find it? |

the problem is theyve applied for software patents and dont want anyone to beat them to it. what np should do is focus on improving the hardware, which is totally awesome, aside from the wiimote there is little or no competition in the home motion capture devices market. what they should do is open up the software so that a standard api for motion capture can be established. then more product lines will come into existance and more games will support them. without more open standards i fear that motion track technology will go the way of the joystick. some oddity that will refuse to work on oses some 5 or 10 years down the line (sorta like my edglasses, rendered useless due to a lack of stereo drivers). its a real good thing freetrack came along.
i perfer using freetrack over the natural point software, since it has a better set of featuires. they should view freetrack as an extension to their system and not as competition. they seem to think that if people use freetrack, they wont buy their product. what they dont realize is people looking at freetrack might go out and get a trackir. i used to promote the trackir but lately ive been telling people to get a wiimote and freetrack, just because i think np's move was incredibly stupid and goes against their customers.
