Hi guys me again : )

I'm having a persistant problem with Freetrack and any applications using Full Screen Anti-Aliasing (GTL/GPL/rFactor).

All works fine in-game but when I close the simulation the computer does not return to desktop. Instead, it freezes with a black screen. The only way to successfully exit to desktop is by closing the simulation by using the Task manager.

This doesn't happen with applications in which I'm not using FSAA (IL-2 1946) or if I'm not using Freetrack.

P4 3.2 HT
Nvidia 7600GT 256Mb AGP/91.47 drivers
2Gb RAM
Windows XP SP1

All help truly appeciated,

Cheers, Neil  : )

Are you using SP1 for any particular reason? You should really be using SP2.

Yes, primarily because I have some older editing programs that don't work very well (most not at all) under SP2.

I thought I'd mention that I use Nvidia profiles set up for various graphic settings for some games and these profiles are no longer being applied whilst using Freetrack. (GPL/GTL). rFactor has ingame settings for AA and AF so no need to setup profiles for that, although the exiting problem exists.

Thanx again for your help,

Cheers, Neil : )

Are you using RGB24 or I420 video compression?

Try using I420 if your webcam supports it.

Ok, I420 is supported.

Tried that, but still getting the freeze when exiting.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the 3D scene (skull) running in the background (even if minimised)?  I might try creating an Nvidia profile for freetrack (same settings as what I use for the simulations). Worth a shot I guess  : s t u a r t :

Thanx again for your help.

p.s  After playing with some of the settings for the cam, I'm now able to get a solid 60FPS

If you own a Logitech Quickcam web camera, this issue may be caused by the Quickcam software and its AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation) feature.  Currently, there is no known fix from Logitech at this time however please visit their website for instructions on disabling this feature to restore Windows functionality.

I'm a Quick cam user :snif:, and you ?

Nota : this fix concerns black screen at windows start up but it worrh to be tested

I'm not using a Quick cam here.  I'm using a Viewmaster 3.1Mp Digital still camera (VC3110) that I received free with a DVD player ages ago. It has a webcam mode. Lol... it's the only time I've ever used it as it did not take very good pictures. Glad I'm finally getting some use out of it.  : D
