Class : Apprenti Posts : 6 Registered on : 27/01/2008 Off line	Hi, I have just been fiddling around with the VX-1000 and a TV remote for testing before I install the LEDs onto my hat. I have seen many people getting 30fps however I cannot seem to get over 20. The only mods I have done so far include: 1) Enabler to disable auto exposure 2)Floppy disk over lens I have not removed the IR filter yet (could that be a reason for low fps?) Anyway here are some screenshots: I am running vista 64 with an AMD 3700 @ 2.9ghz Why can I not get over 20fps? Thanks, Oliver Edited by The Fury on 30/01/2008 at 22h23.

Since this is asked frequently I suggest to make this thread sticky or add the steps to the hardware FAQ. Originally taken from here I changed some of the text because step 2 may be unclear for some people and is very important. To get 30 FPS with Microsoft VX-1000: 1. Set auto exposure on (default) and exposure value to 0 (or little higher). 2. Take a lamp, switch it on and aim to the camera to put some light on the scene to disable auto exposure and receive 30 FPS. 3. Disable auto exposure with the free programs EnableButton or WindowsEnabler. 4. Switch the light off - you should still receive 30 FPS.

As in Vista I cannot do this in freetrack because too many points causes the program to crash. Just set the threshold to max (right side) in FT so it can't see the light. step 2 may be unclear for some people and is very important.
