I have been messing around with freepie and testing tablets for tracking without great results, i'm looking for a freetrack solution using led's now but would be using it from around 2.4-2.5m away from the camera.

I was wondering what experiences people had been having with working over 2m distances, which is the best camera (looking for 60fps if poss)?

Which type of led's work the best for these distances?

And if i can use freetrack in any First person shooter to control the look scheme instead of a mouse?

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

More than 2m you really need optimal settings and LEDs on max. current limit. A large mount and a zoom on the web cam could be helpful as well.
And a real good daylight filter is indispensable. Forget the floppy-filter, it will not work.

I think, SFH485P LEDs are good enough for this.

For me it missed some reactivity and precision. But give it a try...

Thanks for the info steph

I've got those led's coming, could you, or anyone, reccomend a camera that would be good enough to get over 2 meters?

Thanks

I find out that maximum od 1 meter distance is optimal.

With my cam (ms vx3000) and ir-leds 2,5 metre doesn't seem to be any problem.
The leds are at a distance of 2,5 metres still bright enough, only the dots are to close together.
I only need to make my model a bit larger to create more distance between the dots.

I use SFH485P leds powered by usb(5 volts) and a 10 Ohm resistor.
