How quickly do you think them batteries would die out?  I can see the red dot, but nothing is showing anymore.

I think I killed my camera.  I took it apart to add the filter to the lense and accidentally forgot to shut off free track.  Did I short something out?

I set everything to default and still cant get it to scan.

man o man.  maybe a computer restart?

Are you saying you took the camera apart while it was plugged into the USB port?

Shutting off FreeTrack has nothing to do with hardware, FreeTrack is software!

Word of advice is DO NOT DO THE USB FOR POWERING THE LEDS!
With your luck you will destroy the computer.

Get everything working from battery power until you get it working properly in your game.

I would not advise that! That will be much more expensive!
Plus you will have whole new learning curve.

If you can not get this to work then you would be better off buying a trackir.

For $19 you can get a Logitech Quickcam for notebooks off e-bay. That includes shipping and handling!

This is what I use, easy to modify, just like the one you did.
Install the floppy disk filter and use your existing hat.

Now im really confused.  I bought a new camera last night.  swapped out the brackets that hold the IR filter and i still dont get any video.  I tried un installing the software using CCleaner and re-installing.  I have no idea what happened.  clicked to change defaults.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Just switched over to my dual boot.  windows 7.  Of course it manually goes out to get the drivers for the webcam which sux. cause now the logitech software opens up, which I dont want.  How do i disable that.

The good news is, that on windows 7 the camera works fine.  Maybe there was nothing wrong with the camera.?

EDIT!!!

Now its not scanning in windows 7 either.  All I did was try to edit the exposure.

More updates.

with a pc restart I get the camera back. If I turn the auto exposure down too far I lose the lights.  I turn it back up and they dont come back.

When my lights are gray what setting do I use to make them brighter?

This is so strange.  sometimes rebooting brings back the lights, sometimes it doesn't.

BTW.  GGUYZ, is this in the manual?

Try "Reset Configuration" in the Global TAB!

maybe after that a restart of Freetrack.

Don't forget to reselect your model (3-point Cap)

on another note.  I cut the filter and put it just over the lens as seen in this picture then put the cap back together.  would that cause a problem?

EDIT:  Just took that disk filter out.  brought the exposure down to -1 and same thing.  Its like it freezes up.  no more lights are visible and I have to shut down my pc to bring it back.

SpectreM;

Please use the edit key. No need to have so many double and triple posts.
Please gather your thoughts and think before posting!
I have asked you questions and you ignore them! If you want any further help, please reply to my questions.

Have you ever manually adjusted the camera to focus sharply on the beam points?

Is the new camera the same as the second one?

Stick with the XP system for now and get it working! Do not use the Logitech software, only its drivers.

You keep jumping around doing multiple things not knowing what your are trying to solve. I told once before to slow down and think about what you are doing.

To give you a little insight on the grey beams. It means one of two things; either to much intensity our out of focus!

Same exact camera as the second one.

I just adjusted the camera to get the dots smaller.

The logitech drivers have been un installed.

But again.  as soon as I try to bring exposure down to -1 the dots, everything in the window dissapears and I have to do a full shut down to get anything back.
