I just ordered the Trackclip Pro, and the PS3 Eye. So at this point, I am not going to build my own. I figured it was worth the extra $25 to just buy the Trackclip and have a proven product, with a warrenty, rather than building my own with possible mistakes.
I should have everything delivered by next week, I am sure I will have questions about how to get everything set up, |

Lol, ya I did. I figured for the extra $25, let a professional handle the electronics design and manufacturing, and provide me with a 1 year limited warrently,

Do you give a try to Freetrack software?
Few people failed to run it, chiefly with Windows7 for unknown reason. Not that I'm pessimist but it would be pity to stay alone with PS3 Eye and a TrackClip Pro. Otherwise TrackClip works very well with Freetrack. |

I have downloaded and opened the FreeTrack software so far, but I do not yet have a webcam, so I cannot really test how well it works yet.
Hopefully I wont run into these problems. |

What an optimistic viewing If so, he could then set up a modern art exhibition with the two items At least they'll act as aesthetic attraction with no purpose other than themselves
Nah, you won't, at 99% it will work flawlessly. But you can never be sure with all these diabolical machineries eat-electrons.

Ok, so all of the products were delivered. I plugged in my PS3 Eye camera, then I downloaded the CLEyeDriver program, and then I downloaded the FreeTrack software. I ran FreeTrack as the administrator, and everything fired up. I have a laptop with a built in webcam, so that webcam come up as default, and it seemed to be working with FreeTrack. However, I cannot manipulate this webcam to take out the IR filter or anything, so thats why I wanted to buy an independant webcam to use for this, hte PS3eye.
The problem I have now is that when I go to swith the camera source from the built in webcam, to my PS3Eye, FreeTrack freezes up for a few seconds, and then crashes. Any ideas? |

Could be a driver conflict between inbuilt cam and PS3Eye driver.
Is there a way to deactivate this cam? |

Have you set up your modern art exhibition? Sorry, only joking If the problem persists, what error do you get?

Everytime I would select the ps3eye and click start, Free-Track would crash. I ended up reading a thread on this forum where a "PS3Eye Fix" file was posted. I downloaded this, unzipped it, and copied the 3 files and justed pasted them in the main FreeTrack folder. Whatever it did fixed the crashing problem.
The problem I seem to be having now is that the software is not picking up(putting X's on) the LEDS. I have messed around with the settings and gotten it to a point where it is only showing the 3 LEDs as fairly nicely sized red blobs, and everything else is black. To me this would seem like exactly what I want, however it does not pick up the three red blobs and therefore doesn't track them. I am not sure why this is. If I turn down the setting, and allow it to show everyting the camera is seeing, it will pick up(Put X's on) some random points, and try to start tracking them, but since the display is showing everything, they X's get lost quickly and stop tracking. I have not modified the PS3eye in any way yet, as I have heard it is sometimes unnecessary. Do you think it is just that I need to remove the IR filter, and then use a light blocking filter on the camera? I thought of this, but I still dont know why its not working now, when I have gotten the display to show just the LEDS and everything else black already. Any advice is greatly appreciated. |
