Unfortunately nobody has solved the problem yet.
That's extremely strange that it worked yesterday though! Everybody else with the problem (that I know of) has had it right from first installation and never been able to get it to run at all. Did you install or uninstall anything else yesterday? |

What is access violation? What causes it?
http://www.pcfixreview.com/hardware/access-violation-error/ Seems to me your MSN orso has use of your webcam or your webcam program itself is still running? (Think FreeTrack would give an error for that though ... ) My first few guesses you've already tried ... (UAC/defender aps (note: most do keep running after being shutdown). Did you reboot after each uninstall/regclean? Windows can be kinda picky with that. Hope you can fix it and do tell if you do and how |

Thanks for your post mate.
Yeah, I've tried a couple of things to this effect including booting in safe mode to ensure nothing non-critical is running, including Win Defender/antivirus programs/etc. Right now I'm just about out of ideas. If you have any other thoughts about it though please let me know and I'll try it out! If I do find a fix I'll post it here and shout it from mountain tops Cheers, Toby |

Hi,
After my problem, i uninstall and reinstall but the problem did not disappear. I uninstalled then again and tried to reinstall on another partition: It worked for 2 days (2 or 3 sessions) and jsut now, voila, the access violation again. What a pity, I built a nice cap for nothing and the little I used Freetrack was fun I will have to do without... Sweet |

Hmm, very odd.
You can always use version 2.1 instead of 2.2 (unless you're using a wiimote). Version 2.1 does not have this problem so I'm using that instead. It's still very good. http://www.free-track.net/english/freetrack/telechargement.php |

I skimmed through the subsequent posts, but quoted from the first one to delineate some differences from my setup. I don't know that it will help, but it can't hurt... I am running FreeTrack 2.2 on Vista- Home Premium 64 bit, and it's working fine. - I do not have UAC turned on - I use a Wiimote instead of a webcam Looking in the properties for the FreeTrack icon: Mine is installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\FreeTrack\FreeTrack.exe". There is no compatibility mode set. All groups or user names have all permissions (except for "Special permissions" set to "Allow". Running DxDiag indicates DX10 (as expected). When you indicated that you tried running the program in Administrator mode, were you talking about the installation program, or the FreeTrack 2.2 after it was installed? If the latter, try running the install program as Administrator. Good luck! |

Hey thanks for the post, good idea about running the install file in admin mode, I'm not actually sure if I've tried that or not.
There's a guy on another thread who is having this problem with a Wiimote, so that rules that out unfortunately. I'm going to do an uninstall/registry clean/3 restarts/sacrifice a chicken/etc then try running the install file in admin mode. |

Okay no success, but I did notice something new. 2.2 is using a different version of NPClient.dll, but when I look in registry it is still registered as being in the directory it was in for the previous 2.1 install.
Any ideas? I don't know very much about how registry works. ====Edit==== I tried updating the directory in registry but it didn't do anything. Same error. I also tried deleting the file and the error is the same. I don't know if that rules it out as a cause or not. After I manually changed it, I reinstalled 2.1 and it changed the registry entry back to the directory where I installed 2.1. I think there's something funny going on with the installation. Out of curiosity, is anyone else with this problem (or not experiencing this problem) using rivatuner?

I've just tested version 2.2 on Windows 7 Beta.
I get the same access violation error. This is on a fresh install on a different harddrive with nothing else installed (other than the latest dx9 updates). Unless by fluke the same error is being caused by something else in Windows 7 I think we can conclude this error is caused by hardware incompatibility. I also noticed that when it crashes in Windows 7 freetrack.exe does not close at the process uses 99% CPU in the resource monitor. This does not happen on Vista in my case. I'll look into this further tomorrow. Anyone else getting this problem, it might be useful to post a detailed list of hardware specs and anything plugged into your PC (including usb etc) to see if we can work out some common feature. I'll do this tomorrow night. Cheers, |

Its not much help to you guys but I've just installed windows 7 beta, toshiba bluetooth stack and freetrack. I had a small issue with the d3dx9_33.dll not being present but copied that to the freetrack folder.
Still had a problem with permissions but I turned off User Account Settings and its working perfectly now. Regards Fred |

Hi Fred,
Yeah I expect if you're not getting the problem on Vista/XP/whatever you won't get it on Windows 7 either. This suggests it is a hardware incompatibility not a software one. If I have enough time one day I'll sit down and try to find out what is causing it. |

Hey mate thanks a lot for your post, this could be very useful.
On the surface it doesn't seem our PCs have much in common. 1) My motherboard is also made by Gigabyte, though its a different chipset (P35) and Intel. I wonder if perhaps its a BIOS thing relating to something the boards have in common? 2) I have the same onboard audio, but it's disabled in BIOS as I have a PCI soundcard. 3) My onboard LAN is the same, except it's revision B instead of C. 4) My videocard is a 8800GTS 640mb, but it's G80 whilst yours is the newer G92, and there are plenty of people running v2.2 on both these videocards so I guess we can rule that out. 1-3 all relate to the motherboard, so I guess that is all we have to go with right now. I'm going to update the BIOS and see if that helps at all. I'll report back later. Cheers |

I've updated BIOS from F4 to the latest version, F14c. Still the same problem. I also tried disabling the no-execute memory protect feature in BIOS but this had no effect. Damn.

Hi all,
I've realized that the problem"Access violation at address 00402272..." is probably connected with Display DPI setting. After setting back to default (96DPI) the problem's gone. Hope it'll work for all of you
