Hi,

First of all, I love this initiative and I can't wait to have created my own.
But because I know little about electronics I need someone to help fill my shopping cart. (I want to build the cap)

I found these LEDs. According to the handbook, these are the ones I need.
But howmany batteries do I need? And do I need some kind of resistor of some kind?

I am planning on using normaal AA batteries. 1 or 2 would be ok right?

Could anyone please help me fill my cart at this website so I can get started? :)
Maybe linking the parts I need like I did above? (a resistor is call weerstand in Dutch, but I hope the English site is back online asap)

I would be very thankful! And I hope I can help ppl out later as well as you guys do now!

The Links are not working

But I think you mean this page

IR-LED SFH485P (T 1 3/4) -->  5mm, 1,5V, 100ma, +-40''

Correct me if I am wrong!

About the resistor I am not sure.
I use 2 AA and no resistor. Not very power saving but works

And no my head is not burning  :D

Hey !

If you are using 3 SFH485P, fill the Assembly Wizard with the following datas :
* Power Supply Voltage (V) : 3
* LED Forward Voltage (V) : 1.5
* LED Forward Current (mA) : 70

Then, you will be said which resistor(s) to buy :) .

Rémy, WilderPilz,

Thank you for the information.
I will try and get stuff ordered now. It's weird the links stopped working. Sorry for that.

I will keep you all posted on my progress. If I can do it... Everyone can!!

One more quick question... Just a yes or no will do :D
Is this the resistor I need? I cant see the colorcode properly so I want to be sure.

The LED Assembly wizzard says I need a 22 ohms 5% resistor.
Current 68.2 mA
Dissipated power 0.1 Watt
Total Current in Assembly 204.6mA.

I guess it's okay. I can't see the colors either, but according to the written caracteristics (although I can't read Dutch ^^ ), it seems to be the right one ! :)
