Hy everybody,
i've just built my 3 leds cap ... i must say that the software is amazing.... but i had most prolems with it and i'm here to ask if someone can help me to solve them, cause i'd love to use it with Rfactor.
The problems doesn't appear during playing ... just when trying to setup freetrack.
My webcam is very old but looks ok for this job ... 30 fps 0/1 jitter and so on...
the 3 green lights are on.
I also made all the adjustments suggested on the camera ....
Now when i turn it on :
1) it can see my head movement ( yaw ) in just one direction....
2) the skull often goes away in a corner and there is no way to center it again, so i have to turn off freetrack and turn it on again
3) freetrack often crashes alone...
Here waiting your help!!|!!!

Regards

Luca

I think the problem may be that it's oversensitive.

Try adjusting the sensitivity levels lower on the Config tab.

or

Adjust the curves.

I also had to turn my camera slight to the right and down when using it or one LED didn't come in clearly.

I also assigned a key to pause FreeTrack if I need to look into my lap or way off on the side as the excessive movement caused it to crash i.e. NAN failures.

Thanks cloudyifr for your interesting, but for me is a heavier problem, not just settings .
Probabilly my hardware( 3led cap) is not good enough....

now i have reinstalled everything and  have also nan errors...

but i read on the forum by kestrel that if the hardware is good fitted the software is stable... and i trust him.

btw thanks and have fun with this fantastic sw!!

Is movement inverted?

2) the skull often goes away in a corner and there is no way to center it again, so i have to turn off freetrack and turn it on again

You have to adjust the camera exposure and threshold slider so that there is no stray light and make sure that each LED only has one tracking cross.

3) freetrack often crashes alone...

When the camera isn't running?

The yaw movement, if inverted or not... causes on the skull movement in the same direction left=left and right=left

Each led has correctly just 1 cross.... no jitter ( 1 )... i've always the 3 green leds.

Ft crashes alone ( i mean not during playing )

I'd like to know if is a problem of cap or settings or??????

My philips vesta pcvc675 is too old???

Thanks everyone could help me.

Hi Luca i'm experiencing the same problem here :(  2 days ago i built a 3 points  cap taking care to respect the distance between points and all but i still can't seem to make it work. I must say that  i've been using 4 points  cap with V2.0 and it worked fine (congratulations team) but  i decided to go with V2.1 and can't figure it out  why it doesn't work. Points looking good with crosess, 3 green lights active, 30 FPS, 03 jitter, no other crosses of any kind but it doesn't work correctly and crashes very often. I uninstalled it and installed again with same results. It DOES work with 1 point  though so i guess we'll have to wait and see what the programmers say about it?  thanks in advance to any suggestions

Have you tryed with "4 dots cap" on FreeTrack 2.1 too ?
It's possible you don't have this kind of problem with 1 dot , or 4 dots caps ... Because they don't use same mathematics equations ... "3 dots clip" ans "3 dots cap" use same part of code ....

can try to made an test on FreeTrack 2.1 with old tracknig method (4 dots cap) and tell us the result ?

Well i haven't tried it because since I reinstalled  v2.0 it works fine( as always) and I didn't mess with it anymore. But yes once i get home (currently at work) i'll reinstall v2.1, make some tests and then i'll get back to you :) Until then...keep up the good work :)

Ok guys, sorry for the delay but i have been dealing with some RL bussiness and i haven't had much time to make the test i promised you. here's what i did:
I uninstalled v2.0 ( which works fine) and reinstalled v2.1. I fired up v2.1 with 4 points hat and it worked although from time to time the leds would overlap but generally it worked. The next thing i did I tried v2.1 with 1 point hat and it still worked, but when i blocked the middle led which practically turned my hat in a 3 points hat ( after changing setup accordingly) it looked like  whenever i turned my head left or right it only moved left. Belive me i tried inverting axes and everything but still the same. As i mentioned in my previous post i get 29-30 FPS with a Creative Vista Plus webcam (which consumes about 45-50% of my CPU power) , only the IR leds are visible, no background light, no noise   but it still does not work, at least for me. Guys i still think that you have done a great job but v2.1 doesn't work for me. For the time being i think i'll stick  to v2.0 :)  Thanks again and see you in the skies

I'm experiencing similar crashes, with various unknown error numbers (they keep changing) and something about a debugger.

It seems to happen when I look in down-left, not always, but often enough to be very frustrating.  I've checked the settings and while it looks good when I look at things in FT, it will still crash there (not in game) as well.

Freetrack crash ...

But , is it a NAN error ?

if it's a nan error, try to change webcam orientation and try to change model dimentions ... (it solved problem for me ....)
