I just built a one led tracker. The first thing i noticed was the tracking seemed alot smoother and more responsive than the first (3 point) tracker i made. Is it me?
I'm running on the same system for both, same setup/hardware, no major changes. Specs:
Asus A8v/Athlon 64 3000+/2GB ram
Geforce 7800GS
I was suprised, especially since FT is using mabye 3-5% when minimized, using 3 point...

The point tracking methods use such a small amount of cpu that they are independent of computer specs. So if there's any difference between the tracking methods, it's not because of any different demands being placed on the cpu.
Single point tracking has higher accuracy because the whole camera frame is being used just for measuring yaw and pitch. Because of the greater accuracy, there isn't as much noise, so you don't need to use as much smoothing; less smoothing means better responsiveness.
