Hi,

I have been using Freetrack for about 12 months and have been very happy with the results.
Recently however my Wiimote appears to be randomly stopping in Freetrack and I haven't a clue why.

The Bluetooth connection with the Wiimote is fine and I can start the tracking but then after anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds the Wiimote stops and I have to press Start again.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I have tried 4 different Wiimotes and they all behave exactly the same.

Thx,
Dustbag

Hi Dustbag,
If 4 Wiimotes have the same problem, It must be some problem with you bluetooth device.I don't think 4 wiimote can get broke the same time.
If you use usb for a bluetooth device: 1) check in devicemanager if you pc may NOT disable usb to save energie.
                                      2) other devices which are using bluetooth interfere?Your Wii itself??
                                      3) check for updates for your bluetoothdevice.
                                      4) try another bluetooth stack.
                                      5) starts your bluetoothdevice seeking for new devices of it self?Maybe it looses connection because it start to seek.
I used in the beginning also a wiimote, I had this problem also.I didn't want to spent so much time in solving this problem.
That is why I started to use a webcam(modified).
Maybe you can try with a headphone(bluetooth) or cellphone if you have the same problem.

This is the only help I can give you.
I hope you find the solution and post it here.

Hi,

I have had some success :D
It seems that if I leave the freetrack window open it will randomly stop the tracking and I have to press start again. If however I minimise the freetrack window it will keep tracking.
So when I start Freetrack I have to get everything ready press start and then minimise freetrack before it stops the tracking.
If anyone else has this experience please let me know as I was beginning to think my PC was possessed  :dev:

A few other questions to optimise my setup:
Is there an optimum distance from the wiimote to the freetrack model?
Is it best to have the Wiimote above, below or on the same level as the freetrack model?
Can anyone recommend some good settings (smoothing, dead zones etc...) when using freetrack for a flight simulator that will allow tracking without it being overly sensitive?

Thx,
Dustbag

Hi Dustbag,
I always minimize freetrack, close all applications when I want to fly.So my computer can use all resources for my game.
The optimum distance?I think if you want to sit at greater distance you must make you model bigger and when you sit more closer, make it smaller.Thats something you can see in the camera tab.
For freetrack you only need three good visible dots for tracking.Fill in the right dimension for you model and it must work.If by moving your head freetrack loose one dot you tracking become unstable.
If you sit at greater distance and you dots become unvisible, slide the treshold to the left,or maybe you can change the resistor to give more current to the ir-leds(not to much current).I use a webcam, in my case I can see them in freetrack from 3 metres. With normal play with the Wii it is also possible to stand more then 3 metres from you television.
I play Cliffs of Dover(flightsim WWII),I have a large deadzone,sensitivity at 1,4, smoothing 1,20.
But keep in mind, wrong filled in dimensons=bad movent!! Green bulbs sometime red===bad movement, hight jitter== bad movement.
I hope my explanation helps you a little.
