A lot of people seems to have problems with disabling or enabling functions because they ar greyed out.

There is a tool with the name Windows Enabler which can be a good help for problems like that.
You can find it at:  http://camoy.sdf.org/wwwarchive/angelfire.com/falcon/Enabler.htm
It solved my problem that I was not able of turning off auto exposure.

I have a plug and play webcam, UVC, and I have no software for it, so i can't disable the auto exposure....

This is driving me crazy since the webcam is fine and all I have to do is send a command to disable the auto exposure.

I think UVC allows this to be done: http://york.wikidot.com/usb-video look at class specific requests, there you see Auto-Exposure Mode Control.

Soooo all one would have to do is create a progam that sends these requests to the camera right? then why havent people done this before?

Also all I have the is greyed out GAIN control slider on the standard windows webcam windows thingy: http://pcauthorities.com/images/video-capture-properties.jpg

Any help? I dont want to buy an extra webcam :v since this one works fine

hi fdrph,

with windows-enabler you must be able to change the
gain control slider.Did you try windows-enabler??

Soooo all one would have to do is create a progam that sends these requests to the camera right? then why havent people done this before?

;) Maybe the majority of people don't use uvc because they buy a webcam with software.

I don't have any experiance with uvc, but like I wrote before, if something is grey-out you should be able to change it with windows-enabler.
This is all I can do for you for now, maybe someone else knows more about it and has some sollutions for you.Or has the knowledge to make a program to enable/disablel auto exposure in uvc.I don't have the knowledge.
If you find a solution yourself it would be nice if you share it with us.
