I've been researching this all night and thought I found the solution with:
http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=2416

I've done everything there and still have the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1 with an i7-Q720 nVidia GT230M. It's an older machine but it's still powerful as hell.

My problem:
I can open the program and select my HP webcam with no issues, but when i select the PS3 Eye and click start, it instantly freezes. I've downloaded and installed the most recent Drivers for the cam. I downloaded and installed 2.2.0.279, downloaded the patch files and replaced the originals. I've started everything in administrator mode and still nothin.

After that was a no-go, I uninstalled everything and reverted back to 2.1.2 but that seemed to have even more bugs with my system. I tried (foolishly) copying the 'patch files' from 2.2.0.279 into the 2.1.2 install and that failed pretty miserably.

After that didn't work, I uninstalled everything, reinstalled all of my DirectX drivers, restarted, and tried everything again with 2.2.0.279 and the new patch files.

I really have no idea what to do about this?? Any help would be great! Thankyou in advance!!

Hi,
I see I am not alone...
I have got the same issue with PS3 EYE camera and it is definitely something with the camera driver because my other logitech is working perfect!

I gave up wit PS3 eye, tried everything and the issue still exist.

Hopefully free track form time to time, after several tries fires up the ps3 camera but this is annoying trying to start the camera 15 times befor it go properly...

my spec:

Windows 7 pro 32bit
ATI Graphic card
AMD processor
latest driver installed: http://codelaboratories.com/files/archive/CL-Eye-Driver-5.1.1.0317.exe

What can I do... I just preparing to my game 15 min earlier to finally get the ps3 camera running :(

same problem for me... nothing works.

Where can I find older drivers? 4.xx?

@albx

What you say is not a fix.

Yes Freetrack does not crash instantly but is not starting either. When I press start there are no LEDs in the window as all is reset to 0 in config.

edit.

I managed to make it work with last driver CL-Eye-Driver-5.1.1.0317 and all fixes.

Yes you have to press "Stream" before you press Start.

First time when it works after you press start the camera window probably wont show anything cause is reseted.

But!!!

After it started you now can press "Camera" button and move exposure and color sliders one notch each (I don't use auto and gain is zero). Prese OK/Close and LEDs are now visible.

After you use Freetrack you first press Stop then Close the program. Mine hanged if I tried to close it directly.

After that you can start Freetrack... press Stream... OK... And press Start. N need to press afterwards "Camera" unless you want to modify settings.

great success!! :)
