Hello Forum,

I have just installed FreeTrack on my WINDOWS 7 PC and installed a new webcam Logitech HD C270.

FreeTrack versions info:
FreeTrack         2.2.0.279
FreeTrackFilter  1.5.3.0
FreeTrackClient 1.0.0.266
NPClient           1.5.0.267

The website says the last update was Nov22, 2008.

1. Is there a newer version somewhere?? I found an English language manual and the screenshots do not look like the software I have.

2. When I click the Free Track icon on the desktop, the software opens but no ton the desktop. I only get an icon in the tray. Then if it is idle for about two minutes, the software window minimises. Is this normal for Free Track? Is there anyway to fix it?

3. The camera works as I have seen images on the Logitech software but the CAM window of the FT software is black and blank. I tried aiming at light at it but there is NO image at all.

The SOURCE window is blank with no options to draw down.

How do I make the software recognise this camera?

Can anyone help me out here, please?

Hi Sandy7,

1. As far as I know 2.2.0.229 is the last Version.
The manual hasn't change since 2.1 and in 2.2 most of the important functions are similar to 2.1.

2. Disable these two options will solve your problem.

3. Can you choose your webcam in the "Cam" section under "source"?

1. Page 9 of the manual shows a screenshot with tabs on left side: START, DEVICES and SETTINGS. I can't find these tabs anywhere.

2. I'll try those settings when I get home tonight. Thanks for the tip.

3. No, that section called SOURCE is completely blank. The camera produces an image in the Logitech software though. I don't know why it isn't appearing in the FreeTrack software. All ideas are welcome!

1. You can get this tabs, ones you webcam is recognised in Freetrack. It's not the case, as for now
3. you can't choose any driver in the source section.

Try to reinstall your Cam-Driver and then Freetrack.

And it seems as if there is an other problem with the C270.
But try to get it work first.

I guess I found out why the camera isn't recognised.

I uninstalled and re-installed the FT software. When I opened it from the shortcut, a message dialog appeared:

"Failed to register C:\Program Files\FreeTrack\FreeTrackFilterSSE2.ax
Video sources cannot be used.
Vista users: right click on executable and select 'Run As Administrator.'
"

I'm searching for a solution to this but if anyone can explain how to fix it I'd be very grateful. Especially using very simple instructions!

For FilterSSE2.ax-error:

Run installation as admin even in Windows 7. (But I can't tell you how to use agmin rights on Win7, I'm on XP.)

Thanks, Steph. I am trying to figure out what this means:

W7-users have to run the freetrack.exe as admin. I had run the install-file as admin, but not the freetrack.exe itself. Now FT works, 2.1.2 and also 2.2.

...and how to do it.
