Hi.
I'm using Microsoft VX-1000 webcam with FT and want to explain what to do if you couldn't achieve 30 FPS@640x480.

First - if you have 20 FPS:
In webcam properties disable image enhancement features:
 - low light,
 - Indoor/Outdoor set to outdoor,
 - Backlight off
 - USB bandwidth 6, auto off,
 - exposure 0,
 - brightness, contrast set to obtaind clear picture.

I you receive 30 FPS good for you.
However I achieved only 24 FPS with my setup.

I this the reason is "auto exposure" feature built in driver(?).
With this feature enabled driver analyzes frame and automatically sets longer exposure time to get more light when it is dark.
This lowers FPS rate.
My setup is 1 IR led (Condor sim.) and VX-1k webcam with photo film filter installed.
My video frames are completely black with few pixels imaging LED.
That is why I receive 24 FPS - AE is turning on.
I tried to disable AE in registry, but my changes in settings are overridden.
I decided to enable grayed "auto" tick near exposure slider using Enable Button 1.0
http://softsearch.ru/programs/113-911-enable-button-download.shtml

If you disable AE tick - exposure slider stops working. It can be moved but it doesn't nothing - exposure is set to value used when AE was disabled (however slider moves to some value).

To set 30 FPS:
1. Set AE on (default) and exposure value to 0 (or little higher).
2. Put some light on scene to disable AE and receive 30 FPS.
3. Disable AE.
4. Switch off light - you should still receive 30 FPS.

I know this is strange but it works with my setup.
Users reporting 30 FPS with this cam could have some light in background, but my image is almost completely black.

Regards
Panda

Nice contribution!

I'm surprised the Microsoft VX-1000 does not support manual exposure, is it possible there are different model versions that do support it?

Hi,

I tried your setup and it worked but if you choose B/W with it you get much batter FPS and it still can get your leds good enuth, I need to put old negative on it and try becuse now I have 28>30(usually)>32 and probably with a old negative filter it will work better.

enjoy

Can't you use Force Exposure -> Property Page Interface -> Page # -> Checkbox # -> Disable Checkbox in Freetrack?

Another link to EB 1.0:
http://rusoft.net/download.php?id=5288

press:
"CKauaTb Enable button"

Run Enable Button and move mouse pointer over (or near) grayed AE tick.
After enabling tick you could disable "Enable button" program.

It seems that "enable button" is impossible to get now. Ive tryed 3 diff RU sites with no luck(it just will either go to empty page or say 'cannot display webpage'), is there not an english site. Can someone that has it host or something.

All,

I think/hope this will work for you ... I really bounced around to find it... you have to enter the numbers at the bottom before you can download.
http://www.softoman.ru/windows/text/other/10311.html

I also have the same problems with the VX-1000... in fact my VX-1000 even conflicted with my USB headset (edimensional 5.1)... ARMA wouldn't load and lock-on crashed.  I opened task manager and killed the VX-1000 exe and sure enough everything worked.  I also couldn't get to the Auto exposure on Freetrack 2.2, I could on 2.1 however it still didn't seem to help the frame rate at all on an AMD Athlon AM2 6000 (2x3.0ghz).  (Personally I do NOT recommend this camera at this point).

Hope this is helpful.
