I'm building a freetrack rig, but my camera sits on my desk, meaning it will look up at my face and it will never see an LED mounted on top of the hat. My question is could I get away with mounting all three LED's on the bill of my hat, or would I need to get some vertical separation between the LED? Thanks for the help.

Yes, you need some retreat and vertical difference for the third LED in the middle, otherwise it don't works.
But it should work, if you put the middle LED forward and higher than the two others. Have a try.
You need to check the "Invert"-case in the "Profile"- section for "Yaw" and "Pitch" settings for that.

Thanks for the reply, should I mount those middle LED's in teh usual place, or can I move them farther back, so I can keep that center LED's mount short.
Also, this is offtopic, but I'm trying to follow the stickied guide for usb, but my math says that I need a 100ohm resxistor, not a 10 ohm for 50ma. Am I doing the math wrong? Using ohm's law I get

You can but shorter will be less precise. Give it a try with some flexible wire before you fabricate the final version.
