hello folks!

I need some help with building a mouseless setup that might help me get some releif from my chronic RSI pain I suffer every day, now enough is enough and in desperation I started to use my trackball with my feet.

Regardless, I already bought a PS Eye camera because I like the high FPS. Now I need to build the tracker. Will a 2DOF be enough? I will use this paired with dragon naturally speaking for dictation but one of the most cumbersome action is scrolling up/down which with vocal commands is very unpractical.

Is there a way to implement scrolling with free track?
Also is there anywhere where I can buy something already made? I don't care if it's used, I don't have time to run around and buy all the parts.
the TrackClip PRO  looks nice but it's $35.
Also would TrackIR produce more or less the same results for my purposes?

I really appreciate this forum for all the great info! thanks!

Hi,

for mouseemulation try Headmouse:
http://nipg.inf.elte.hu/headmouse/headmouse.html

It supports mouseclick. For scrolling I don't know.

Otherwise there is an option for the mousewheel in Freetrack. But therefore you need at least 3point clip or cap for min. 3-DOF.

thanks for the advice. I've tried to use the head mouse and I must say is a very nice piece of software. However it as that few quirks that I cannot overcome, it might actually work better by using an LED just like free track  So my question still stands if there is any place where I can buy an already made set up. Also the other problem with the head mouse is that the PlayStation eye does not work at more than 30 frames per second.

I was able to test free track by using my bicycle LED light and it seemed very smooth. So maybe you should go ahead and figure out how to get my hands on a tracker.

I don't know other ready-to-use solutions for the clip than the Track Clip Pro.
It works the same way than any homemade clip for Freetrack.
Otherwise, try out how far you can go with 1DOT. One LED build is not very complicated.

Hi xxtraloud, if you should still need information about head controlled mouse message me, I had found two or three good ones and I'm happy of sharing just in case you still need the info.
Best,
Angelo
