So I used a 3 point LED cap model from the gallery when I made my cap, it was a easy build and I copied the basic "two led's on under the bill and one LED sticking out of the top front of the cap (right between the two small holes that usually are near the top front of a cap) and it seems to work "okay".
I do however think my model dimensions are off but I did measure them pretty well, is this design just flawed and did I waste my time? should I use some other method for the top LED in terms of mounting? Here is where I am gonna vent a bit... If the design is in fact faulty, why is it in the gallery? For that matter, why not just make a few images showing WHERE on the cap to place LED's? I will do this if I can get it to work so that others don't have to flounder about confused. I don't mean to be angry, I just find that it would be far simpler to just take a few pictures of designs that are 100% sure to work and just offer a simple description on how to build them, perhaps even a printable template for a clip and a few reference photo's for a cap model, it would be far easier than just having dimensions and leaving the rest up to the builder (who may not be handy.) So in closing, I was just wondering if the simple LED sticking out of the top front of my cap is causing movement problems including unwanted forward and rearward motion when I move my head up and down, this is while I am looking right or left in a game, so if I look up or down while looking right, the camera will move forward and backward also, kinda annoying. I imagine the model works well and I only ask that if it is indeed a good design, could you please give me a screenshot of t he model dimensions screen? Here is the cap in question that I copied. http://www.free-track.net/images/point_model_gallery/kirock7_02.jpg Is this actually a solid design, or should I move the top LED somewhere else? |

So well, why? Because Freetrack is for everyone, from Micky Mouse to Dumbo.
And luckily the programmer thought of all of us with our problems of protruding ears and mohican hairstyle, (I'm talking for me) , and he does even better than that. Good news: You can build your own individual, adjusted Freetrack mount and set it up in the program. Go to: Model ---> 3 Point Cap ---> Model dimensions Measure your own cap side and front dimensions and fill them up in the cases. ---> Apply. ...have a nice tracking.
Yes it is, tried and appouved. Looking for your other threads, with same problems for the clip-mount, I'm not sure you are well set up the model position once again. Try to measure, (with help of another person if necessary), the distances horizontal, vertical and depth to reference point R. This reduce most of the unexpected output movements you described.

"Try to measure, (with help of another person if necessary), the distances horizontal, vertical and depth to reference point R.
This reduce most of the unexpected output movements you described." Can you elaborate a bit on that, I mean, can you give me a step by step guide on how and what I am measuring. I think my issue is that I simply do not know what I need to measure, I measured the hat dimensions (to fill in the model size boxes) and it still acted all crazy, after moving the sliders a bit, I have somewhat better results but now it does not move correctly at all when I turn my head to the right, I get all kinds of unwanted movements when turning right and than looking up or down (it moves the head forward and down as opposed to just down) , the left side is fine (I can turn my head left and then look up and down accurately). I just need step by step instructions on everything that needs to be measured, I don't understand why this is so hard for me but I think I am missing a step somewhere so it would help to have them all to see.

Hm, ...a picture is worth a thousand words...
I hope this will help: (The values are the defaults by program. So you have to set up yours.) Front model dimension value is half the distance between the LEDs on visor. Horizontal model position is always 0 for 3 Point Cap. (...sorry I'm not an artist.)

That is exactly what I was looking for, I saved the image for future reference.
Thanks so much! -Mike |
