Hi,
I want to ask you if did I understand your guide right. If I would use "floppy disk" filter and IR LED with light 950nm, is it enough length to get the best results?

I would like to reach similar results like here

Thanks

Hi,

basically yes, it depends mainly on webcam properties. Other filter materials like dark red filter, ir-filter from remote controlls or dark plastic sheets can give similar results.

The thing what I ask about is, what lengths to use to different filters.

I found that IR light is in micrometers, not nanometers, so my question was stupid and cannot be correct. So my question/worries concerns about this:

- If I would like to buy a IR led, I don't know what length to buy
- If I buy IR led, will the floppy disk filter be good? Will it pass some IR light or not? Because it seems to me, like if the IR light is not visible, so it is too poor???
- Maybe the floppy disk filter is just for the normal LED light 950nm...

The link to image was from this guide:
http://www.free-track.net/english/hardware/filter_removal/labtec_webcam_pro.php
But there is not written what led the guy used. Was it normal light or IR light?

Yes, per difinition IR-light is invisible for human eye. Have a look here.
I can't give you the exact filter bandpass values for a floppy disk but it work's for the most IR-LEDS i used between 800 an 950nm.

Again, it depends on your webcam. Filter removed or not.

Just have a try with other filter materials if it don't work.
