Hi!

I want to switch from facetracknoir to facetrack using 3 LEDs.

My shopping list from RadioShack would look like this:

-) 3x High-Output Infrared LED with  1.28V, rated at 100mA

-) 1x RadioShack 2xAA Battery Holder

-) 1x Power Switch

My questions:

-) Do I have to remove the IR Filter of my Logitech C250 Webcam?
-) What kind of resitors do I need? According to the calcultor I need 2.2 Ohm 5%. However I can't find such low resistors at RadioShack! Any ideas? I'm not an electronics guy... :-)

if you can't find the value you need there, either look at another shop (some that specialises in electronic components) or you can try combining higher values in paralel - like 4x10Ohm in parallel should give you 2.5 Ohms, which should work in your case...

As for the IR filter removal, try to make the model first and see how the camera picks it up; if it is too weak, try the light filter (piece of magnetic media from diskette) and play with brightness and other params.
Only when this all fails, I'd try removing the IR filter, since you risk damaging the webcam.

What setup are you going to use, serial or parallel?
Because I have a serial setup with 4 rechargeble 1.2V AA batteries and 30 Ohm resistor.
When I tried it with 2 batteries the LEDs wouldn't burn.
I think that if you need 2.2 Ohm resistors your powersupply is insufficient and the LEDs will not burn at all or they will stop burning as soon as the batteries slightly drop in power.
