Its a freeware , you dont have to pay for it. What error do you get while launching it? What OS are you using and what webcam is istalled?

Ah. What a silly topic title. In a help forum, why DO people put "help" or the name of the project. What's the point?

Anyway, having found the  right place to post, I have the same problem. I launch the program. It appears briefly inthe task list, then disappears again. There is no error report. Nothing.

Anyone any clues, please?

Good point, well made. Well, I'd hoped it was a really well known problem, which is why I looked for existing threads. I thought I was doing the right thing by trawling through the posts, even the ones with irrelevant titles rather than starting a new one!!

Running XP on a homebuild PC. Tried with with unbranded camera, Microsoft cam and Logitech cam.

Nothing in the event logs.

I'd heard a few folk saying "update DirectX, even if  you already are up to date with the latest version an install can fix it." I already had 9.0c (I believe that's the most mature version supporting XP), but ran the installer anyway. No change, I'm afraid.

Hm,...this is not a commune problem. In most case of failed program start you get at least a message.  Do you have reinstall Freetrack after Directx update?

Try this solutions anyway:
http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=1627#10513

- Copy d3dx9_33.dll in the main folder of Freetrack.

Still nothing?
- Try to install Freetrack 2.1 and see if this one works.

No joy with copying eh DLL. Quite surprised to find that my copy of the DLL and the hosted one had different dates.

When I try to install 2.1.2, I'm told (by the installer) "This file contains invalid data."

Ooops. Must've been a dodgy download. I downloaded 2.1.2 again, and this time it works. I have the software running. Does that give you any clues?

Now... Let's see what it does...
