I'm trying to make a Freetrack setup, but I'm having trouble getting the program to track my points. I have a Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000, which I have converted to an IR cam, and I'm running the latest version of FreeTrack (2.2.0.279) under Windows 7 64 Bit.

The problem is that I get this weird grey box at the lower part of the camera picture, see attached image. The program does not respond to any points in the upper part of the image. However, if I put the point in the low grey box area, it flickers and the skull starts to spin around randomly. The grey box is not present if I run the software that came with the camera.

I have tried the tip suggested in the sticky thread (manually registering OCX files), but that had no effect. I've reinstalled the drivers for the camera (and made sure I have the latest drivers), and reinstalled Freetrack, but no change.

Try this out: Got to the Stream-Settings an reselect the Compression Codec (RGB24 or I420).

If this works, u have to do it every time u start freetrack.
I have the same Problem with my VX-3000 and WIN 7 x64.

Thanks for the tip, but the Stream button is greyed out so I can't click it. Any idea on why that might be?

EDIT: Nevermind. I had to turn off the camera to click it. This did indeed solve the problem. Thank you!

I am having this same exact problem. Running VX-3000 (filter removed) and on Vista 32bit. My problem goes a little further that I can not get to the Stream functions. When I turn the camera off and click Stream I get this error:

Access violation at address 6F535F70 in module 'hcw18prop.ax'. Read of address 0000000.

I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled and same problem. Any suggestions?  Thank you.

So it seems that the hcw18prop.ax file is a driver file for the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 that I am using.  Removing it from the system allows me to access the Stream button. Don't know what this is going to do to my TV recorder though.  :(
