HOW   DOES    FReeTrack    work    compared   to    TrackIR  ?

I am interested to understand FreeTrack and  TrackIR.
In learning FS 2004 and plowing through the many aviation terms...
I quickly discovered <Track IR > the $150 price astounds me, so

I turn to FreeTrack ...
- As I understand it both FreeTrack and  TrackIR are computer programs
that produce a matrix that contains 6 elements derived from an  external video
camera the "sees" the motions  of a USER's  LED headset.

- The elements of the matrix  change  corresponding
to a change in  x,y,z position of the LEDS caused by  the  USER's head motion.

- FreeTrack program includes  FEEDBACK signal to the game program that generated the original image
which the USER wants to change by minor  motions of the USER's LED headset.

QUESTION:
Assume that the game program  has the capability to change its on-screen
display corresponding to the FEEDBACK signal ,
thus changing the on-screen display

QUESTION
1.  Where in  say  < IL-2 strumovik 1942 > does the possibility of FEEDBACK occur ?

2.  Where  is there a listing of computer games that have the possibility of such FEEDBACK ?
I assume that the FEEDBACK may have to be considerably altered to operate various games

3.  What possible advantage can    <$150 TrackIR> have  over   < $30 parts + FreeTRack>
other than a lot of pain (??) to install the < FreeTrack >

I admit that I  have limited knowledge of programming.

A (not necessary correct):

1. Game have to be programmed to support tracking system. Also, through software you could emulate mouse or joystick to take control of view.

2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_supporting_FreeTrack
Every list is incomplete...

3. With TrackIR you have uniformed hardware. You don't have to fine tune system for best performance. Developer have obligation to give support.
But... if you have spare time, any skills with wires and construction, will to read how-to and set-up your own system - FreeTrack is choice for you.
