I'm having some problems with my VX-1000 webcam, from Microsoft.

I've just bought it, and I made an 3 points clip for Free-Track, actually I've just bought this webcam for Free-Track.

I didn't remove the IR Filter or anything like that, because I don't want to lose the warranty.

Anyway, the problem is that it barely recognizes the red commom 5mm LEDs from the clip, and with my old generic webcam it does recognizes easilly...

Change settings for webcam.

"Outdoor" in settings is a must.

Note that I've replaced IR filter with floppy disk, and also that contrast between your LEDs and background is quite low.

I'm using your settings now, its a little better, almost playable...

Im having some problems with my FPS too, its average of 20

But my biggest problem is the difficult to "see" the LEDs. There's anyway I can resolve it? What are these stickers?

It's from the Point Model Gallery from Free-Track's website.

Uncheck all "auto" Features .

Try to obtain an picture as dark as possible .
A blurry Picture can make dots tracking more effective .

Sorry for my English .........

This is very important.  The reason your LEDs aren't getting tracked is because there are too many other surfaces reflecting too much light within the field of view of the camera.

The camera needs to be as 'insensitive' to the ambient light in your room as possible, with the LEDs overcoming that insensitivity with their brightness.

In the camera properties, set exposure to 0 . As mentioned above  also set to exterior/outdoors.

In the freetrack panel ,select the frame rate tab and untick  AUTO , set multiplier to  1 , webcam framerate should be set at 30.

Thanks everybody for the answers, I've just came back to home from the city's downtown, I bought 3 infra-red LEDs and I'll make an 3 points hat with it.

About the settings, when I'm done I'll try it, really thanks!

PS: Which one is better, regarding accuracy and field of view, 3 points CLIP or 3 points HAT?

Thanks!!!

I'll just post this in here. I also have the VX-1000 and I just removed the IR filter and replaced it with a same size floppy disc material (don't know if that's good or bad). I'm now at work so I can't test with my build that I made yesterday, but I took a screen with the cam of very bright TL-lights at my work with default webcam settings. Is this ok or way too dark? Or does it not matter when using the IR leds I have at home?
