Hi there,

instead I'm still in the phase of deciding which cam and which pointer model I first want to say that FT is a very cool piece of software and it is very nice that it is provided for free - thanks to all those who developed it.

Now that I still have to choose a cam for my project I've read several times about things like RGB24 or IYUV and others. What do they stand for? Is it important which of these the cam I choose provides? Which one is best for use with FT? How can I find out which one the cam I choose provides?

My favorite cam at the moment is the MS VX-1000, as it is cheap and the IR-filter seems to be removable without bigger problems (as I think I will build a IR-pointer-model). Unfortunately I can't find out, which of the mentioned techniques (RGB24, IYUV or whatever) the cam provides. I have actually brought myself to visit the microsoft website hoping to find more information in a data sheet, but there was nothing that helps.

So maybe one of you can help me, thanks in advance.

Hi.

I really don't know the meaning of those options. But my camera as the ability to run in RGB 24 and I420 compression types, but from my experience, it runs better in I420 compression.

Try to search a little on that subject, this is the best I can help you  :(

Best regards, Jorge.

Hi Jorge,

at least I know now that these terms deal with compression and that I420 is better than RGB24. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if the MS VX-1000 provides the I420 compression?
