ok so it works in flight sim x
problems its a bit jittery when i turn my head from about 90 degrees it jumps to 180 full rear, there is no smooth tracking between 90 and 180 on either sides. any suggestions. Maybe a different led arrangement. Maybe camera placement. |

There are few things that may be happing.
Open up FreeTrack software and watch what it is tracking, FreeTrack maybe picking up something in the background (make sure you threshold is set right and good point size). The camera may losing sight of a LED, The FPS may be low (make sure FPS is green). It should look something like this. |

Well a few things:
1.- be sure that your webcam is focused and, as Forgotten said, that is only seeing three points... post a picture of how free-track is seeing your point model 2.- Remenber to put your point model dimmesion in the model tab of free-track, and also try to fill the model position, and of course that the correct point model is selected. 3.- check the profile tab on free-track, it happen to me that all sensitivity sliders was set to 3 by default, setting it to 1 help me a lot, you can also check in the curves tab, by default all the curves are set to Linear, you can play with the curves or you can right click over one graph and apply one of predefined curves (Linear, 1:1, deadzone, soft) and even you can copy the values to another graphs.... for more information about this, check the manual Try playing with various settings (one at time) to see how it works... regards

it's not losing sight of leds.

I think I figured out what was going on.
The table I'm playing on has a little wobble and it's making the cam shake when I'm using the joystick. So.... I just need to find a stable base for it to sit on and I should be good. I'll update as work continues. |

For tuning freetrack and fsx do this: In FSX go from "full screen" to "windowed" and resize it (smaller). launch freetrack console and adjust the sliders for sensitivity and smoothing in the "profile" tab. while you're tuning move your head and see in the "windowed" FSX screen what happens. When you're satisfied save profile in freetrack. I see you also have a second monitor, so use your second monitor for dragging freetrack console to it. The best position for your webcam is right in front of you, you can turn your head 45-55 degrees to right and left. (remember the SFH485P has a half-angle wide of 60 degrees). also you can start FSX in "high priority" ... just google for it how to do this. |

problem was a shaky table.
I hooked the cam up to a stool and that fixed the problem. I have 3 monitors btw :p. 32 inch is my main display. and i think i got it running right. when batterys run low it stops tracking well. |

Update.
I'll be making a scaled up version of that one. That's so my cam can track better from further away. Also adding a 4.5v ac adapter for constant energy. I was having problems with batteries. Lucky for me I had some 22 ohm resisters in order to set up the 3 led's in a line. I'll post with updates as I continue. |
