Half View Angle (Degrees): 6.36

The most important is view Angle - Best View Angle must be more than 65° - 80° is perfect !

So ask more information about view angle ...

Just use standard, widely available infrared LEDs, their viewing angle is too narrow for head tracking but this is easily fixed by filing the lens tips down flat. This reduces their brightness due to a wider emission angle but they're still no less bright than commercially bought wide angle LEDs like SFH485P.

I just read that, so I was thinking about still buying that ir led that I had on the link but the problem is, I am an electronics n00b and I don't know how to do this:

I think it is meant to create a flat surface LED out of a round one. According to this picture:

it would mean to use a file to remove some of the epoxy lens case (for example to the line that is drawn in this picture) without opening the case and the semiconductor die to the free air.

The SFH485P has a flat LED surface out of factory.

Hi, new to this forum, built the hat using the ir's recommended, sorted the camera ( logitech quickcam messenger), can see red blobs on the screen but no matter how many sliders I fiddle with I cannot get the blobs small enough to only get three points on the screen.  Obviously I'm getting something wrong but I can't figure out what.  Help!!!!

Just want to make sure that when you click on "camera" in the free track interface, and click "video format" that you have turned all of the sliders down to 1 or 0 and unchecked the "auto exposure" box.

Let me know, and we can move on from there.

Hi, haven't got auto exposure but auto gain with a exposure slider under that so I've unchecked it and moved all sliders to the left, gamma still reading 1000, nothing at all showing on the screen, no blobs of any size!!!

I would try and move the exposure slider up to maybe 5.  Then manipulate the threshold slider and see if that helps.

Another idea, is to click the camera again, but instead of settings, click format, and change it from RGB to 1420 and the red blobs should show up a little better, because they will show as white.

Hopefully that helps.
