RSS > Testing LED`s, How to test infra red LED`s to ensure they are working.

Class : Apprenti Posts : 3 Registered on : 01/06/2009 Off line	Just bought some SFH485P LED`s to construct a 3 point cap unit. Can anyone please advise me how to test these LED`s to make sure that they are working before I wire up the unit? Cheers.

Class : Apprenti Posts : 10 Registered on : 30/05/2009 Off line	The SFH485P emits a small red light dot in the middle of the LED. It can be seen if the conditions are dark enough. If you look at it with a digital cam (like from your cellphone, webcam or digital camera) you will se it emit ir light (it is bright). I tested the LEDs by holding the power cables at the LED - just beware that you connected a suitable resistor at the (-) to the LED before (!).
