Just bought some SFH485P LED`s to construct a 3 point cap unit. Can anyone please advise me how to test these LED`s to make sure that they are working before I wire up the unit?

Cheers.

The SFH485P emits a small red light dot in the middle of the LED. It can be seen if the conditions are dark enough. If you look at it with a digital cam (like from your cellphone, webcam or digital camera) you will se it emit ir light (it is bright).

I tested the LEDs by holding the power cables at the LED - just beware that you connected a suitable resistor at the (-) to the LED before (!).

you dont really need a resistor if you're only gonna connect the power to it for couple seconds.
