hi!
i'm a dabbler in flightsims but i've noticed that i'm not getting as much as i can out of them because it is so difficult to get good situational awareness without being able to look around.
so first, i was going to get trackir but being a mere dabbler, i figure freetrack would be a more reasonable way to go.
so modding the vx1000, easy breezy. no problem.
but making this led head rig... seems kinda hard especially since i don't have a soldering iron, have never soldered in my life, afraid of solder, etc.
so what's the easiest way to make a rig? is there any kind of premade "sockets" i can just crimp together and slap on a battery and be done with it?
the alternative would be just buy the trackpro clip which is just a pre-made version.
oh, and are there trackpro clip CLONES out there that i can purchase that are cheaper?
thanks much.

d'oh....
alrighty then... if my logitech webcam comes through, i guess i'm gonna go with the trackclip pro thingy then....
not too bad for $35 i guess.
found some led christmas lights online that could have been tweaked to provide a point rig but it would've been pretty ugly and bulky.

p.s. i think it's pretty ridiculous that trackir is being so proprietary and threatened by freetrack.... there is definitely some work involved in a freetrack rig and i can imagine that they would just appeal to a different market.

Dont be afraid of soldering. It is more easy than you think. I think modifying led bicycle lights etc. has to be done by soldering, too. There are good FAQs and videos in the net about basic soldering.

thanks for the encouragement....
i might be inclined to try if i either had or had access to a soldering iron and solder.... but i'm afraid that the hassle of either tracking one down or buying one would quickly start to rival the cost of just buying the trackclip pro.
