hello,

im new here so at first: hello freetracker and sorry for my poor english.  :)

my question is:

i used the assembly wizzard for calculation with a 9V
batterie.

LED-type:
-------------
IR-LED 5MM TYPE L-53F3C
- lense: clear
- 30 mW
- lense-angle:     50 °
- wave-length:     940 nm
- IF:     50 mA
- UF:     1.2 V
housing:     5 mm

the wizzard sayed that i need a resistor of 110 Ohms with 5% for
serial assembly.

so i bought the LEDs (5 pieces), the resistor and the batterie, soldered it
together but it don`t work. 2 LEDs are working properly and are recognized
by freetrack, but when i connect the 3rd LED, the batterie is not able to
power all 3 LEDs (even with no resistor at the circuit). i tried 2 kind of
batteries, 1 normal and 1 with 200mA/h.

i don`t know why, can someone help me ?

best regards

Hello Sancho

Your 9v battery should be able to power 3 1.2v leds without any problem

Since the problem occured when you tried to install the 3rd led, it seems :

- either your 3rd led is fried
- either you mounted your 3rd led the wrong way.

furthermore :

Powering your leds directly on the battery , without resistor is a big NO-NO.

NEVER DO THIS

Leds are diodes, not light bulbs.
By connecting leds directly to the battery, without using a limiting resistor, you can fry them !!!
