My camera outputs 30 fps, but FreeTrack only reports 14 or 15 fps. Any thoughts?

Hi, I just got freetrack, have done some small tests, but havn't made my led setup yet. I had the same problem but I saw a article that helped. First I had to get enable button, http://www.free-track.net/english/hardware/webcam.php (If you look under microsoft VX-1000, it has it for XP and Vista). Next I started enable button and went to my web cams settings. Then I held a flashlight right in front of the web cam and waited a little bit. Then I unchecked the greyed out box on exposure. I also set the indoor/outdoor to outdoor and usb to 6 and took it of auto. Then I went into freetrack to test, and I went from about 12fps to 30fps.
Note: I have a microsoft VX-3000, I will try to find that article for you, much better explained in it. |

OK, got it working. Here is the story.
I set up FreeTrack a few days ago with a cheap $15 infrared camera with 6 IR LEDs, 1 layer of exposed 35mm film and a homemade hat clip with reflective tape from Walmart. It was working great then I disconnected the camera to take it to work to demo it to a coworker. When I got it home my FPS had dropped from 30 to 15. Turns out I had to remove the 35mm film filter to allow the camera to reset, now it works great. I have been playing DCS Black Shark and it adds a lot to the immersion. I built my own pc with an AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core, 4BG and dual ATI 3850 vid cards. Once I have the game and FreeTrack running I alt-Tab and open Task Manager. I then set the Affinity so that Black Shark uses cores 0,1,2 and Free Track gets core 3 all to itself. I also run my vid cards in crossfire mode and the game and head tracking is flawless. If you have a multi core processor I highly recommend that you play with the Affinity settings and see if you can get comparable results. |

OK
thought I had this fixed, but everytime I boot the computer I have to fight the battle of low FPS. It seems that even though I save the camera settings and the profile FT 2.2 looses the settings. This sucks! |

OK, seem to have the issue narrowed down. If I exit and restart, or reboot the computer I have to hit the "Stream" button in FreeTrack 2.2 to reset the FPS. This seems to consistently provide the 29/30 FPS that I want.

Are you used Windows Vista ?
Have you got this kind of problem on windows XP ? Perhaps it's a problem with webcam driver ? (not sure ... But ou can try ...)
