Hello everyone,
i've got the following phenomenon: Whenever i want to play a game, that only supports 16 bit of colordepth, Freetrack fails to work.

And when setting the desktop in Vista to 16 bit colordepth, tracking won't even work for the skull. Switching back to 32 bit, it instantly works again.

My setup is a 3 LED one, along with a Microsoft VX-3000 webcam.

So does FT really need 32bit of color depth on the desktop? Is there maybe a workaround to get it working indepentent of the color depth?

I am using Vista and a GF 7950 GT with a HDMI screen, but i also tried on XP and with Radeon 9800 PRo and analogue D-Sub connection. Makes no difference (both times FT work only work in 32 bit of desktop color depth.

Hope you can help me!

Okay i have to correct myself: This definitely has to do with the RGB24 codec of my webcam. Whenever a game runs only in 16 bit colordepth, RGB24 will not work. This now also explains, why F4AF did not work yet.

But when switching over to the I420 codec, everything is fine. The only problem is, that FT just does not want to save the RGB24 setting. Everytime after a restart of FT, the video compression setting is set back to RGB 24.

Anyone a idea how to save it to I420 enduringly?

Hum ....

Depending of webcam driver ...

try to use an another one to see if freetrack can keep / save settings to I420 (default is RGB24 bits) ...

Freetrack use DirectX API for filters and stream capture ...

Hmm, good question. I kinda took it as-is. It's a little anoying, but it isn't much of an isue.
To me it seems Free-track just doesn't save it.

In freetrack.ini it says:
compressor={some reg key like numbers}

Tried searching in registry, but the key doesn't show there. It seems to me that is the RGB24 thingy though. Maybe some of the dev's could shine some light on it?

@ CommDante: Yes, i also think this is the RGB24 thing.

@ babasior: I tried with my Lifecam drivers 1.2 / 1.4 and 2.04, and it made no difference. But in the meantime, i got used to always changing it to I420.  ^^
