Hello eladh7

led size : better 5mm than 3mm
Viewing angle : the wider the better
color : better red or infrared (red isn't a "bright" color to human eyes, so it's better than green/white/blue as for reflection problems).

If you go for an IR led , try to get a 880nm led. Some webcams can't track 920/940nm leds unless they're IR modded.

And if you can, get a SFH485P since :

- It's a 5mm led
- It works in IR range (no reflection hassle).
- wavelength is 880nm (less compatibility problems with unmodded webcams).
-  It's already a wide beam angle led (don't need to sand the led).

hello eladh7

the beam angle problem is not related to the webcam, but on the amount of angle you want to be able to turn your head.

If you use narrow angle leds , tracking will be lost even if you only turn your head a little bit.

But if you use wide angle leds , or widen the angle by sanding the leds, you'll be able to turn your head about 90 degres (45 degres on each side of the direct line of sight, thats already much since if you turn too much , YOU will lost sight of your own screen   )

So don't worry about your webcam model (at least for view angle) and just focus on the led model.

you won't turn your head that much , unless you have a monster setup (say : 3x 24" LCD   ), so a 90 to 100 degres led (45 to 50 half angle) should already work.

But this is the lowest value you should go for.

As i said in previous post , the wider the beam, the better.
