Hi,

First of all I wan't to say thanks to the FreeTrack team for all your efforts!

- TrackIR, SmartNav and OptiTrack cameras supported

How exactly do I use my current TrackIR 2 hardware as the camera for FreeTrack 2.2? Are there any doc's available that describes this procedure?

I've read the helpfile (Hardware/Camera/OptiTrack), downloaded and installed OptiTrack SDK 1.1.034 but when installing the driver I couldn't find TrackIR 2 as an alternative in the driver list but was able to install the SmartNav 3 driver without OS complaining via "add new hardware".

However when I start FreeTrack 2.2 having this driver loaded FreeTrack just freeze minimized at start?

Would greatly appreciate any help...

Just an idea, maybe you can try this one : http://media.naturalpoint.com/software/OptiTrack_1.3.035.exe ? And what about looking ofr other files here: http://www.naturalpoint.com/optitrack/support/downloads-archive.html ? I don't know, it's just ideas...

Yes thats it, I've used 1.0.34 rather than the latest and it finds the camera straight away. Thanks Didja.

I've not tested in game yet but Freetrack seems to work fine, apart from incredible high jitter, sometimes 100. Does this matter or is it just that the TIR camera does that?

Cheers
Fred

the jitter is always high for wii remotes and trackir cameras in freetrack but it doesn't seem to affect the result, possibly because of the high frame rates?

I'm really happy you got it working ! I updated the FAQ thanks to you !

Yeah, the jitter is calculated like that (FAQ) :

Jitter counts the number of frames that deviate more than +/-15% of the average frame rate in a second. It indicates frame rate instability which can potentially cause a reduction in panning smoothness. If the deviation is small FreeTrack, when minimized, may be able to neutralise it, so a high jitter number does not necessarily mean there will be high jitter in the output.

Then if you have high frame rate, it's not really a problem ! :D The frame rate still stay high, whatever is the jitter rate...

Yes it will ;)
The TrackIR camera is now used as a "normal" webcam, I mean for FreeTrack it's the same.

34 doesn't have drivers for some reason, install 35 to get the drivers, uninstall it without deleting drivers and then install 34

OK, I did the following

Disconnected my TIR2 camera
Uninstalled my TIR2 Software
Install 1.0.35 Optitrack SDK
Install 1.0.34 Optitrack SDK (this asks if you want to uninstall previous version)
Connected the TIR2 Camera, it automatically found the drivers
Opened Freetrack
Selected the Optitrack camera in the camera tab drop down list

I'll be doing another PC on Sunday so will update if this needs changes

Stick with it my friend, this is far better with 6dof than 2dof.

Regards
Fred

Thanks for the list Fred!

Will not have the time this weekend but I'm not in a real hurry, aim to have it up running before the DCS: BS demo arrives...

Will let you know how it goes!

Well, it might not be that good. So far of 3 PC's I've tried to get it working on I've only managed it on 1 of them.

To be honest I ran out of time and the wii remote works so well I'll stick with that for now.

Sorry
Fred
