...uninstalled previous versions beforehand, installation goes fine, but the program won't start. It appears for a second in task manager, then disappears.

Any clues would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Specs:

P4 3.2 GHZ, 1gb DDR, Gforce 8600 GT, Audigy, Logitech QuickCam Web

Worked fine with all previous versions.

I am having the exact same problem with the same results as shown above.

V2.1 ran just fine.

Uninstalled V2.1 first.  Then installed V2.2.

V2.2 won't open.  When you click on the ICON, the only thing that happens is FreeTrack.exe will appear momentarily in Task Manager.  That's it.

Download version of install program:   FreeTrack_V2.2.exe is 2.0.0.31.

I tried downloading it again to see if my original download was corrupt.  Did not help.

DXDIAG runs clean.  No errors.

Specs:  AMD 64X2 6000+, 3GB DDR, GeForce 7600GS, Microsoft VX-3000 Web Cam, XP-SP3,  DirectX 9.0c (4.09.00000.0904).

I haven't had this problem, but here are some things to try.

I'm not sure if the version of DirectX you have is the latest one or not but 2.2 requires DirectX 9.0C (November).  The newest one is 9.0C (August) which is what I'm using. Maybe try that version if you don't have it already.

1. Uninstall 2.2 (or 2.1 if your still using it)

2. Delete the freetrack folder in C:/Program Files. (Some files from 2.1 are still there after uninstalling, I had other problems with 2.2 because of this.  When I tried to delete the folder it said there was a file in use so it couldn't delete it. I looked in task manager/processes and found a trackir.exe running.  Shut it down, and was able to delete the folder)

3. Run a registry cleaner (I use CCleaner. If you've never used it, make sure to keep running the registery cleaner until it doesn't find anymore problems.)

4. Restart computer

5. Install 2.2.

I don't know if this will fix your problem or not but it's worth a try.

Clutch,

Nice to see someone is reading this stuff.

Rather than repeat what I have already tried, please read my original post.

I do thank you and appreciate your input, though.

If I may stir the pot a bit more, I have the problem on a second computer.

And, I asked a friend to try installing it and he has the problem.

But, I have another friend who is not having the problem.

So, you can say that out of 4 computers, FreeTrack 2.2 only runs on one of them.

So, it comes down to figuring out what is common between the computers.

Anyway, thanks for your input......

I realize you already uninstalled but you didn't mention if you had manually deleted the freetrack folder in program files or ran a registry cleaner.  I can't think of anything else to try right now.  Good luck, hope you find the solution.

Whoops, sorry about that.  Yes, I completly removed any trace of FT.  Even used Regedit and purged the Registry of any FT entries.

Whatever this is, I sure wish I could fix it because I wanted to see if the Z axix was working properly in FS9.

Well, back to the drawing board.....

Thanks again.

I am having the following issue after installing FreeTrack 2.2:

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_33.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

your dx may have problem

what you can do is to download the dll missing by inserting its name in google and then place the dll in freetracks directory.
