Damn, I cant put 3 damn LED's together to save my life.. I failed misserably so I ended up getting angry and ripped 2 off and tried playing with just one.

I use a Creative NX webcam my freind gave me with no CD so i dont know how to acess the stuff to change settings, but i took out what i thought was the IR filter.

Anyways. I tried with the 1 red 5 mm 1.8V LED that i managed to get working. If my head was more then 10 inches away from the cam the led wouldnt be detected. and in FsX for the camera to move left or right I had to slide my head left or right, If I turned my head, the cam would stop tracking.

Spent all my money on PC parts to make FsX more enjoyable so even $30 to buy that hat i seen for sale on these forums is hard to manage.

Any suggestions?

thanks.

Hello Decimus

This kind of setup isn't correctly described in the documentation anyways, so you don't miss much.

Just get the latest driver directly from the creative website, and look in the webcam settings to find the desired control.

That's how we all did  ^^

but i took out what i thought was the IR filter.

OK

red 5 mm 1.8V LED
If my head was more then 10 inches away from the cam the led wouldnt be detected

Ok for that info, but can you tell us what current you use to drive this led ?
(a led is current driven, so its brightness is highly dependant to the current flowing in it)

It seems either your VL filter is too strong, either your led is underpowered.

Quote : IR leds are "brighter" than normal leds. Since you already IR modded your webcam, you'll usually get better results by using an IR led than a VL led.

If I turned my head, the cam would stop tracking

I presume your led is a stock red led.
Those leds usually have a dome top on their case.

The dome top acts like a lens to narrow the led beam. You need to sand the top flat using sandpaper to widen the led beam. Once you've solved your brightness problem, this should do the trick with your angle problems.

Hello Decimus

Just be sure of one thing : when you move your head , the dot must move accordingly in the cam window

If thats the case , then your hardware setup and cam settings are ok

If thats not the case , then you have to adjust your hardware and cam settings first.

Once this is acheived , you can then look to adjust sensisitity and responsiveness on the various axis (roll and pitch for you , since you work with 1 led at this time) until you get the correct head movement.

Once this is done , you can go in your game and test the settings. It should work better then  :)

Keep us informed.
